The Ohmies are focused on sharing IEEE’s love of all things engineering with the greater New Haven community! We work with a local public high school to build purposeful projects and meaningful relationships. This year, we plan to assemble and send the students kits for solar-powered mini cars. We will meet regularly over Zoom to help the students understand the components and build the cars.
We will also be having ~*socially-distanced*~ game nights, Netflix watch parties, and our 2nd Annual Holiday Extravaganza — AKA our 1st (hopefully not) Annual (hopefully never again) Remote Holiday Extravaganza. If you want to build cool projects, give back to the community, and/or just make some friends, then join the Ohmies!
Tentative Timeline
- Beginning of October – Have the kits designed, assembled, and on their way to the students
- Mid-October – Begin working on the kits with the students
- Before Thanksgiving – Finish building the projects
- After Thanksgiving but before Winter Break – Have the students present their work to the entire IEEE group
